Farmers Markets
One of my favorite ways to spend a weekend is wandering through a local farmers' market. There's something special about slowing down, chatting with the people who grow your food, listening to live music, and seeing neighbors gather together.
As a doula, I often talk about the importance of building your village but your village isn't only made up of healthcare providers, family, and friends. It's also the local farmer who grows your strawberries, the baker who remembers your favorite loaf of bread, the musician playing on the plaza, and the families you smile at while your little one waves from a stroller.
One of the greatest joys of living in Humboldt County is having access to incredible local farmers, artisans, and small businesses. Whether you're picking up fresh strawberries in Arcata, enjoying an afternoon in Fortuna, or grabbing dinner ingredients in McKinleyville, every visit is an opportunity to nourish your family while supporting the community around you.
So grab a reusable bag, wear your comfiest shoes, and come explore some of my favorite farmers' markets here on the Lost Coast.
